My daughter and I will be driving through Spain Sep 23–Oct 24, and we are considering taking the boat to Morocco for a one-day excursion. Has anyone done this? If so, was it worthwhile? Can you recommend a reliable guide? Although we feel perfectly at ease traveling through many countries by ourselves, we are a bit reluctant to go alone in Morocco.
One-day boat excursions to Morocco basically mean Tangier, which is not a place most of us recommend. There are so many worthwhile destinations in Morocco, it's a shame to settle for Tangier. There are flights to Fes and Marrakech--both very interesting--from many European cities, so a real visit to Morocco is possible without being limited to seeing Tangier. You don't necessarily have to go to Morocco this year, specifically, because you happen to be in Spain.
Forget Tangier.
Go to Morocco when you can see the really great places like Rabat, Marrakesh, Fes and Agadair.
The ferry to Tangier is very easy to navigate on your own and you can purchase your tickets on line. For tours in Morocco try Under the Moroccan Sun.
