We'll be visiting our son who will be studying in Seville next spring. Due to work requirements, the ONLY time we can travel is the week right after Easter. We will probably arrive in Seville ON Easter Sunday and stay for 5-6 days. Any hotel recommendations for something relatively reasonable, hidden gems, etc? I know Semana Santa is crazy...what's the city like after all the festivities are over?
I stayed in Hotel Amadeus a few years ago during semana santa and loved it --
they have expanded/remodeled since then so you should check more recent reviews, too,
but I felt very pampered in the penthouse, with a king bed, a spa tub, and a tiny terrace for breakfast.
Half flight up is the roof terrace with several tables for a more formal breakfast service.
Staff member taught me the word 'solsilla' when I was being choosy about which seat I wanted.
Sunny was good because there was some viente going on that time of year.
The management's restaurant recommendations were perfect because they got to know me a little.
Location is off some very tight streets so there was no vehicle traffic noise, but you could easily
stroll to key sights.
[Front desk made reservations for me by phone for flamenco down by the river {arenal maybe?] which turned out to be a lifesaver
because the whole street outside the club was packed with people, like a rugby scrum, and if I didn't have a confirmed reservation I never would have made it in to the next show, let alone the one about to start.]
We stayed in the Silken al Andalus. It's a big hotel - not our normal digs. We stayed because I got a great deal on four nights (90 euro per night vs. the rack rate of about 300 per night). It's not in the center but has safe, free car parking on the adjacent streets (we didn't realize that when we put our car in the hotel garage) and a city bus line that goes directly to the town center.
