Seville to Malaga,itinerary- rental car one way

Best rental car option, use AAA or Expedia or direct Europe site? Leaving Seville 9am - where best to stop and see on route to Malaga, to meet with my son at 5pm later that day. Also insight on adventurous day ; Via Ferreta vs. Caminito del Rey or ?? for us to do Saturday from Malaga (should I keep car)? I'd rather not do a formal tour, my kids want to rappel and zip line. Book thru Viator or Get your guide or ? We depart on Sunday for Mallorca.

Rent the vehicle directly through the rental company website, NOT a 3rd party company. We generally rent through Enterprise or Avis. If you rent through a 3rd party and there are issues, you need to resolve the issue through that party.

The drive alone will be between 2.5-3 hours and taking into account the time to turn in the car and get to wherever it is you’re meeting your son, you’ll have slightly less than 4 hours to see something or some place. Look at the towns along the route you decide to to take and look for things of interest to you. Look at Olvera, Setenil de las Bodegas, or Antequera as possible places to visit. Take into consideration the time needed to find parking when determining your itinerary.

Great info. Thanks - Is Ronda needed or worth going to; If we plan to stop at Setenil de las bodegas?

Yes, Ronda is worth visiting. Setenil de la Bodegas can be seen in an hour and it’s about 20 minutes from Ronda. The main draws in Ronda are the bridge and gorge. You can get a pretty good feel for the town in a few hours if you don’t wander too far into the gorge.

To save time, look for parking lots in the places you intend to visit and bookmark them to whichever app you use for navigation. I use Google maps and also have maps of the area I’ll be in downloaded for offline use in case there is no cell signal. By having the parking lots bookmarked you can go straight to them. In most towns there are free lots, but not in all of them. Fee lots might not be in the town center, but not terribly far from it.

Ronda gets very busy during the main tourist months.
