Hi,
I am traveling with my family (2adults+3 teens) and have made arrangements to fly into Seville from Barcelona. After Seville, we are going to Madrid and here I need help. We leave Seville on Friday and then fly out of Madrid on Monday so we have 3 days. Should I go to Toledo during this time? Can I drive to Toledo on the way to Madrid, spend the day in Toledo and then go to Madrid or will it be too hectic? Is train an option, in which case is there storage available at Toledo station for us to stow our luggage while we sight see?
Toledo is a wonderful city to visit. So much history and so beautiful. We stayed overnight there and appreciated being there after day trippers left. If you are not intending to overnight in Toledo, it seems to me you might as well go from Sevilla directly to Madrid and then day trip to Toledo from Madrid. You wouldn't need a car at all. There is a high speed AVE train from Sevilla to Madrid. Madrid to Toledo is a 30 minute train ride.
The train is faster than a car. Toledo is on a spur line from Madrid, journey is 1/2 hour. There are frequent fast trains from Madrid starting about 9 am and back to Madrid until 9.30 pm You can visit Toledo as a day trip but it's better as an overnight (or more), especially if you're going in high season when it's packed with daytrippers.
There is luggage storage in lockers at the Madrid train station. The train from Sevilla to Madrid takes about 3 hours. You'll need more than 1/2 hour in the station to deposit luggage and get to the next train, so it's not feasible to do it before Madrid. Either day trip on Sat or Sun from Madrid or stay overnight on Fri (leaving all but a small overnight bag in the train station) and staying as long as you like on Sat before going to Madrid
Toledo is only 1/2 hour from Madrid by train, many people do it as a day trip from Madrid, we did a few months ago.
