Spent the morning researching trains and buses between the two. I have Ferry reservations for 4pm to go to Tangier. Who would think, obviously not me, that this would present a problem. Solution was train to Cordoba, a bus from Cordoba at 830 am to arrive at Algeciras at 3:15, barring blown tires or whatever. Anyone have any good ideas or experience with this aside from renting a car (not possible I am 73) - wanted to go by train but apparently they are sold out way ahead for this route. Rome to Rio says one year ahead - really? I can cancel the bus and get a ride share maybe...Any thoughts? Barbara
Going from Sevilla to Algeciras via Cordoba???
Have you looked at the map?
Take a bus from Sevilla straight to Algeciras. There are no trains.
There is a bus at 9:30 arriving to Algeciras at 1pm. (There are probably more buses)

There are indeed earlier and later buses:

I don't recommend Tangier at all (and the amount if time spent getting there is part of the reason), but assuming you are firm in your decision to go: Have you checked to see whether there are better transportation options if you take a ferry from Tarifa instead?
What is your travel date?
Yes, dear person, I looked at a map. I am goal directed and want to go to Marrakesh for a week. And two days in Tangier. I realize there will be a lot of travel involved, some on ferrys, some on trains and buses. I kind of like all that and get to see a lot of the place. Have a train to and from Marrakesh plotted out - my first time on the African continent. Thanks so much for the extra bus references that I did not have. B
Just to add crazily enough it is only possible to go to get the Algeciras ferry from Cordoba not Seville. I have tried all morning to find alternative routes, believe me. Everything seems sold out except what I mentioned. Honest. B
It's impossible for train or bus/coach tickets to be sold out a year in advance, not least as they don't go on sale that early.
This is the company that runs the coach between Sevilla and Algeciras. As a previous poster has noted, there is 0930 departure that gets you in at 1300.

Make sure you are writing "Sevilla" not "Seville". And like many coach companies they don't sell tickets much in advance. Try a date for next week and you'll see the details. Beyond a couple of weeks in advance it will likely show no service - you need to wait until your "booking window" opens.
Sevilla to Algeciras train schedules have always been poor, but not nonexistent. A couple of times per day, you can depart from Sevilla-San Bernardo station and connect at Antequera-Santa Ana; total travel time about 5.5 hours. Buses are faster and work well. See similar info summarized in the connections section of Rick's guidebook chapter (p. 760 in Spain 2019, if you have it).
Note that ferries from Algeciras go to Tanger-Med port, which is well outside of town, so you'll need a bus or taxi connection on that side (map on p. 912 in Spain 2019). That's why Rick's info focuses on ferries running from Tarifa to Tanger-Ville port. That and the fact that Tarifa is a nicer town than Algeciras if you're staying overnight.
If you decide not to use your ferry ticket, you can also fly from Seville to various cities of Morocco; try www.skyscanner.com.
