Hi, I've been told taxis in Seville take cash only, not credit cards. Can anyone clarify? Thanks!
I would expect most taxis to accept card payment but you can’t be 100% sure. Always good to have a few euros anyway.
You also have the option of using ride hailing apps like FreeNow (for official taxis) or Cabify (similar to Uber).
We were able to use credit cards for taxis in Seville in November. It’s a good idea to have a little cash, but you won’t need much.
Thanks, folks!
In 2023 in Seville I used the mobile app (with English interface) pidetaxi to summon and pay (with credit card) a taxi. https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/trip-reports/trip-report-spain-aug-sep-seville-ronda-granada-cordoba-madrid
We used taxis from Barcelona all the way to Seville in October 2025 on a RS "Best of Spain" tour. All of them willingly accepted credit cards! In fact, we only found one instance where a credit card wasn't accepted. We were walking from Sagrada Familia to Recinte Modernista Sant Pau and stopped at a mom & pop store for some cold drinks. We needed to spend €5 for credit card use. That was the only time that happened during our 3 weeks in Spain.
