Seville - Only 1 Day?

We will be winging into Seville next May (5/7-8) at about 11 AM from a stay in Morocco and will need to depart the next morning at 6:30 AM for Malta. Is it even worth coming into the city for the afternoon, evening? Or is it better to just stay out at the airport? Advice appreciated, including recommended hotels for either option and if it is worth it to come into the city, what are 1-2 must sees? Thank you in advance!

The Alcazar, the Cathedral, a paseo and a flamenco club?

Even though a short period of time, it would be silly to not go into town. If nothing else you could walk around the historic center by the cathedral and over to the Plaza de España.

I would go into Sevilla because it's an absolutely amazing city. I would consider an airport near the airport outside the historic center to make getting to your early flight easier and less stressful. 6:30 AM is rather early.

Pretty easy cab ride from the airport to Sevilla, and you also have a bus to the historic center that's quite easy to catch.

If you do one thing in Sevilla, it should be the Real Alcazar. Definitely reserve tickets online beforehand. Plus, walk around the bustling center of the city, it's great and very pedestrian friendly.

I would also get some tapas. Bodeguita Romero is world class. Vinoteca Lama La Uva, amazing wine bar/store in the plaza with the Setas. Tons of other amazing places.

Agreed! Go into Sevilla and make the most of your limited time. Recommend the rooftop tour of the Cathedral, Plaza de España, and wandering the historic city. We were not wowed by the Alcazar.

Sevilla Airport is relatively small, and I'm not sure there are any hotels where you can easily walk from/to the terminal. In practice, you'll need a taxi - and whilst the journey would be shorter, that means still queuing/waiting, paying the flag fee, etc. Thus, a 5 minute taxi ride to an "airport hotel" isn't that much different to the 15-20 minute ride into the city centre.

With an afternoon and evening available, I'd definitely go into the city. You might not want to visit any attraction specifically and instead just walk around - Sevilla is an attractive place to mooch around, admiring the architecture and then have a nice meal. But, depending on where your hotel is, you could definitely "do" one sight. The catedral or Alcazar would be the obvious ones. But there are others depending on your interests. Personally, I'd avoid flamenco which is basically nails being scratched down a blackboard with accompanying catarwauling. But some seem to like it, so perhaps give it a go.

We were in Sevilla last April for only 30 hours. During that time we managed to see a flamenco show, the Alcazar, the Plaza de Espana and the Cathedral. We did not feel rushed at all.

Not an expert on Spain so defer to others, but in planning our own trip we noticed that the Feria in Seville will be taking place at the time of your visit.

Why Seville? Is it on the way?

Assuming your path is Morocco -> ??? -> Malta, that suggests a flight (or cruise) to get to Malta, and Seville seems the odd man out unless it is an airport thing. If it's an airport thing (you are flying into/out of Seville), then it is 100% worth the short visit.

I personally think Seville is a nice enough city to aim for more than a long afternoon/evening, and there are quite a few smaller towns/cities that might be better "squeezed in" if you are just looking for a place to visit during the small window of time.

But, I'm also a fan of a "taste" as a way to see if it interests you enough to return for a longer period.
