Hello there!
We are planning four full days in the Seville area. We are considering a day trip.
Is it worth the long drive to Grenada/Alhambra or should we stick to shorter day trip, like Cordoba/Mezquita. Both look like amazing sites to experience.
Appreciate any input
Best, Stu
I think Granada is a too far for a daytrip. And yes, the Mezquita in Cordoba is amazing!
Granada is a bit too far for day trip.
Cordoba is far too easy and worthwhile to see versus that long drive to Grenada. I thought Grenada itself was kind of an awkward destination. It requires time, but didn’t necessarily demand it if that makes sense. As awesome as the Alhambra is, the Alcazar in Sevilla is a good stand in. The gardens there (and Cordoba’s alcazar also boasts a lovely garden) stack up well against the Generalife too. The train is so super fast and easy to Cordoba I wouldn’t bother driving.
Another vote for Cordoba and the Mezquita, which we enjoyed far more than Granada and the Alhambra.
The Alhambra is one of the most amazing sights I have ever seen! We spent about 3/4 of a day there, and then we returned in the evening for the magical night time tour. However, I would not do it as a daytrip from Seville. It is much too far. What is the rest of your itinerary? Have you made all of your reservations yet? Is it possible to extend your trip and spend 2 nights in Granada? We really enjoyed Granada. There are other interesting sights. And it's a nice city for wandering and exploring.
Cordoba is wonderful, too, and so is the Mezquita. We loved all 3 Andalusian cities, and all 3 important historical and cultural sights: the Alhambra in Granada, the Mezquita in Cordoba, and the Alcazar in Seville. However, the Alhambra was by far our favorite, then the Alcazar, and then the Mezquita. Obviously, everyone has different favorites.
