Seville & Cordoba Hotel Location Suggestions, Please

Hello again.
Time to select a central touring location for Seville and for Cordoba. (Two hotels.)
I will commute by train and be solo.
Any suggested locations or hotels in each city would be appreciated.
It's my first time in Spain.
Thanks very much!

The last time we visited Sevilla we stayed at Hotel Amadeus. It’s about a five minutes walk from the Alcázar, cathedral, and Giralda tower. We thoroughly enjoyed it. In Còrdoba we stayed at Hotel Albucasis. The hotel itself wasn’t fancy but its location inside the historic center was good. Others will have better hotel recommendations for Córdoba.

In Seville we stayed at the Apartamentos Suites Santa Cruz, and we loved it. We had a bedroom, living area, and small kitchen. Did not use the kitchen, but we enjoyed the extra space. Stayed there 4 nights. Address is Calle Pimienta 4. The hotel's main office and reception desk is located in another building in Plaza de Dona Elvira. Our apartment was located about a block away. This is a pedestrian only area, so the taxi dropped us off at Plaza de Alianza. The location is perfect in Barrio Santa Cruz, a few minutes walk from the Cathedral and Alcazar.

In Cordoba we stayed at the Las Casas de la Juderia. We had a spacious room and a good-sized marble bathroom. The hotel is in a very convenient location in the Juderia and a few minutes' walk from the Mezquita and the Alcazar. Las Casas has a lovely courtyard where the hotel provided an honor bar. Also has a pool. This was our favorite hotel during this trip.

I'd like Hotel Eurostars Maimonides, literally 5 feet away from the entrance to the Mezquita, one of the best locations in Cordoba.

In Seville, I stayed at Las Casas de la Judería. The location worked great for me, and while the room decor didn't blow me away (this was in one of their less expensive rooms - the more expensive ones look like they might be pretty grand), it was totally fine and had strong AC. Since it encompasses several adjoining buildings, it was both a very cool environment but also felt a little like a maze to get to the room, but it also had a rooftop pool which can come in very handy for summer (this trip was in July, so managing heat was a definite concern). I didn't eat the breakfast there; instead, I went to various cafes just across the street who offered inexpensive breakfast options.

We've stayed at the Juderia too. A very good experience. A little hard to access though as the streets in the area are very narrow. One of the guys from the hotel drove the car into the hotel "lot" because making the left turn into the hotel is tricky. If you're driving they will move your car to a parking structure after you check in.

We were just in Seville on December 11, 2021. This time on a cruise where we docked in Cadiz. Seville was very much open for business. Hope it stays that way.

We were both Seville and Cordoba in November 2021.

In Cordoba, we stayed at NH Collection Amistad. I chose it partly because of it's cancellation policy - we could cancel the day of arrival before 4 pm if necessary. That's something to consider these days, other hotels that I considered (Las Casas de la Judería, for example) needed to be canceled a week before arrival and our trip was iffy up until the last moment. We enjoyed our stay at NH Collection Amistad and the location in the Old Jewish Quarter was very convenient. We had light luggage and walked to and from the train station (about a 20 minute walk.)

For Seville, we really enjoyed our stay at Murillo Suites Alcazar but for a solo traveler it's probably more space than you need - the location is perfect! While we didn't stay at Hotel Murillo, we checked in there for our apartment at Murillo Suites and the staff members were very kind. I liked the location of Hotel Murillo.

We had such a great time in Spain - enjoy your stay!!

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Hotel Becquar looks fabulous!! I very much appreciate that suggestion. Thank you.

I was looking into the NH Amistad Cordoba, which does not offer refunds for any changes.
These days, it is needed!
Oh well, it sure looked nice.

Thanks,

Lisa/Lee- are you sure about this?

We have stayed at several NH hotels in various countries and all have offered refundable rates- right up til day of arrival as Sharon posted

Look at their official website- they do have a Rewards program which will also give you additional 5% off-easy sign up at booking
I just checked some random dates for the Amistad and they absolutely do offer several refundable rates

Hi Christine.
Yes, I just tried it again (with your link) and with or without breakfast indicates non-refundable.
Maybe I need to "join" their program for refundable/changeable rates...??
Thanks for your note.

I think you are not scrolling down to all the offers
Non refundables are listed first
First offer says “pay online”
Scroll down to next offer
“Pay at hotel”

You do not need to be a Rewards member to see all the offers

Are you on a desktop computer or a iPad or phone?

( don’t think that matters —I see refundable rates on my iPhone and on desktop computer)

Christine,
Interestingly, I read online that the members' program does offer refunds and changes.
So I joined then tried to book it but again it was stated as non-refundable and not changeable.
Oh well. It's not meant to be. But thank you.

Total unavailability of refundable hotel reservations is odd, but maybe it could happen during Semana Santa (Holy Week)? I was in Seville for Holy Week 2019 and had a room with a 14-day cancellation requirement.

That’s what I was just thinking
Curious to see what dates OP is looking for

Sometimes I book direct but in this case I used Booking.com for the NH Amistad. You might pay a few dollars more for the same day cancellation plan but it’s worth it just in case you need to cancel on short notice. We stayed there in mid-November, 2021.

I was looking to book direct from May 15 to 17. I did see refundable availability on booking sites but avoid them.

(My disastrous experience with Expedia in 2019, taught me to only book direct and to confirm with a human.
I was left "homeless" in Rome and had quite the fight to be refunded by Expedia who sold me a five-night stay in a non-existent hotel.)

My RS guides and the wonderful travelers here should prevent that from happening again.

Thanks,
Lee

I’ve never had an issue with Booking.com but I do avoid Expedia, etc. for the reasons mentioned. If you use Booking.com, carefully check the terms in case you do need to cancel on short notice. Some hotels require full payment for your entire stay, and some just require paying for a one-night stay.

I’ve used booking. Com for years without a problem- your booking there is actually directly with the hotel and you are communicating with the hotel
Sometimes I book on the actual hotel website, sometimes booking.com
Just depends

Never use Expedia.

It looks like your dates for Córdoba might be the patios festival which could explain the non refundable rate

I stayed at the NH Amistad in Cordoba and as I recall they had a generous cancellation policy, but that was 2+ years ago in the fall. It's very well located in the Juderia, and modern and comfortable, but with no local atmosphere like some of the other hotels mentioned in this thread.

I also stayed at the Amadeus in Sevilla, loaded with atmosphere, with a musical theme throughout. The rooms are named for composers. It's comfortable and well located, with a rooftop bar and pool overlooking the city.
