How many hours is needed to tour the Seville Cathedral if we include Giralda tower climb? We have a tapas tour at 12:30 (meeting point is 4 mins walk from cathedral) and we are planning on getting the 10:45AM entry time tickets to the cathedral. Is an hour and about 15 minute enough?
I agree with the above. I spent around an hour and 15 minutes last month without the tower. It does depend on your interests. For some, a quick walk through noting the "highlights" may be sufficient.
No way is 75 minutes enough. And certainly skip the tower.
The reason I leave my itinerary flexible is so I don’t have to rush from one location to the next. Thinking back 40+ years to my first visit to the cathedral and tower, I’m sure I spent a few hours there. I was amazed at the architecture. I loved the views from Giralda looking out over the cathedral, courtyard with orange trees, over to the bullring and Torre de Oro. Back then both places were free to enter.
I spent about an hour in the cathedral itself the last time I visited it and probably an equal amount of time in the tower.
Can you do it, yes, but you’ll probably wish you had more time.
Is the choice see the cathedral in that amount of time or not see it at all? You can obviously do a run through in that amount of time, but not the tower. However if it is possible to arrange to spend more time, I think you would enjoy it more.
Thank you fellow travelers for the advice and response!
I am likely moving our entry time some time later during the day to allow more time to visit the Cathedral.
Where can I buy tickets to the Cathedral? I will be in Seville in July.
@hectorm2108 - if not getting them in advance, get them at the cathedral or Alcázar. If you want them in advance go to the official websites for each. You should be able to find them with a quick internet search. Just ensure it’s the official site and not a 3rd party vendor.
I’ll give the the Alcázar site. You can look up the cathedral.
Is the audioguide suggested for the cathedral?
Was just in the cathedral yesterday. I found the audioguide confusing and frustrating and so quit messing with it.
As to the original question: I spent more than three hours going through the cathedral. True, I like to linger, look at some things in detail, and also take a seat from time to time, to soak in the surroundings and rest briefly. Even so, I'd say that spending less than two hours in the cathedral would be doing it a disservice. Also, seems to me feeling the pressure of having to be somewhere else fairly soon would take away from the in-the-moment pleasure of getting to see an amazing space.
Agree with the comment about skipping the Giralda climb.
We spent little time in the main area of the cathedral, but we had booked a rooftop tour and it was AMAZING. Considering we were going to see several other cathedrals on our trip, focusing on this aspect was perfect for us.
Agree with @Jolie NC. A highlight of Andalusia for us was the rooftop tour of the cathedral. Highly recommend!
Don't miss Christopher Columbus' tomb.
We spent about two hours there.
How will you transport from the cathedral four miles away?
