Hello All - My husband and I are tackling our bucket list and decided to travel to Seville between Easter and the Festival (April 15-22) This is planned as a more relaxing trip and we want to pretty much stay put in Seville, but would like some recommendations for day trips for this 6-7 night trip. Also let me know if you think we'll be bored b/c too many nights in Seville. Thanks!
Cynthia
Firstly, I don't think you will be bored in Seville with 6 or 7 nights. We spent 4 nights in Seville, and I wish we had at least another night. Seville is a beautiful city with gorgeous architecture, plazas, fountains, and parks, and is, IMO, a perfect place for slow travel and relaxation. I love the Real Alcazar! It's beautiful and stunning and so interesting. The cathedral, Casa di Pilatos, Plaza de Espagna, exploring the Triana neighborhood, visiting markets, etc. will keep you busy. Take a carriage ride around Seville. See a flamenco show.
For day trips, I highly recommend visiting Cordoba, home of the amazing Mezquita and other sites, such as the Alcazar gardens, Palacio de Viana, exploring the Juderia, the Roman Bridge. It's a 45-minute train ride from Seville to Cordoba. I know you said you want to stay put in Seville, but I actually prefer spending a night or two in Cordoba instead of visiting as a day trip. The city is lovely at night when it's illuminated and the daytrippers have left.
Carmona and Italica
Another vote for Cordoba!
I'd highly recommend staying a night or two in Cordoba, the whitewashed old town comes alive in the golden hours of the evening, when all the daytrippers have gone back to Sevilla and the locals take back their streets.
Some lesser know daytrips from Sevilla can include:
El Rocío/Doñana National Park
Carmona
Monesterio (Jamon Iberico capital of Spain)
Medina Azahara (Caliph's Palace of Al-Andlus)
Thank you all - I will definitely do the train ride and an overnight in Cordoba - Fantastic advice! Cynthia
