So far I have been booking trains for my October trip [Madrid to Cordoba, Cordoba to Sevilla]. Next, I want to leave Sevilla and go to Granada. .... but it appears there are no fast trains for this route. Any suggestions? Thank you!
Where are you looking? I’m seeing trains in mid-Sept in 2 hrs 34 minutes on Renfe. Slower trains in 2 hrs 43 minutes.
I think it's still too early. I've been checking that route for my November trip and they haven't been posted yet. Keep checking every few days.
I checked Renfe and there is nothing listed. I checked Trainline - no trains just coach bus (3 hours). This forum has encouraged early planning... but is it too early for a late October train reservation?
Thx!
If it's more than 60 days it might still be too early. What date are you looking for?
Renfe is a mess. See previous threads for conversations on that. We have been waiting for tickets to show for an early October route and they just did today, well under 60 days lead time. The best advice with Renfe is to search dates closer to now to see what your daily options will be. As previously stated, there should be at least 4 daily trains to choose from on that route. Then just set a daily reminder to keep looking for your specific date to open. Don’t worry, they aren’t all sold out yet or suddenly not operating. It’s just the Renfe site truly not releasing tickets very early. We also haven’t had luck with any of the alternative sites showing the specific train we’re waiting for, so were stuck waiting on Renfe.

This is good advice and it's what I've been doing too. I make sure it's the same day of the week too. I'm doing this on Trainline by the way since the Renfe site can be infuriating.
The people of this Forum are the best! Not only have you confirmed that there is a train (which I wasn't sure about) - but the way to find the train is to be patient and diligent with Renfe!! (I do like Trainline for booking) In addition, are Nick's comments that the coach bus may not be a bad choice :) especially in light of the fact that it might have more options for departure.
Now, Nick what did you mean about factoring in the trip to the stations? Is the coach bus terminal easier to get to or more centrally located for Seville and Granada?
MANY Thanks All!
I thought the Alsa Bus Station was in El Arenal, right in Sevilla's city center. Maybe I am wrong.
Seville has two bus stations. The ALSA buses from Granada go to the Plaza de Armas Station. I assume other companies' Granada-Seville buses, if any, also go to that station.
In Granada the bus station is quite a bit farther from the center than the train station. There are, of course, city buses running regularly to both stations. There are probably some hotels within reasonable walking distance of the train station. That's less likely to be true of the bus station.
