Sevilla - Day Trip Ideas?

I was wondering what everyone thinks about day tripping from Sevilla. We will be there 4 days in June as part of a much larger vacation throughout Spain. Are there any recommended places to visit from Sevilla as day trips? Might as well open this up and get ideas for things to do/see in Sevilla itself as well. Family of 4. Children are 14 and well traveled. I appreciate any input you all can give.

We were just in Sevilla a few weeks ago, and my daughter and I took a day trip to Cordoba. It was very easy: the train trip is only 45 minutes, and there was just enough to see there for a several-hour day trip. We saw the Mezquita and the Jewish Quarter and had a lovely lunch at Casa Mazal. I also recommend the Casa de Sefarad. It's a small and very interesting museum. In Sevilla, we found the suggestions in the Rick Steves snapshot guide to be excellent. We took one of the carriage tours on the first day so we could get an overview of the city. At about $50 for an hour-long tour that takes you places that are too far to walk to, we found it to be a great value. My daughter (age 16) also really liked the Bullring Museum. Finally, we saw two flamenco shows. The show at the Flamenco Dance Museum is outstanding, but you should be warned that it is miked and can get loud. (This didn't bother me, but it was too much for my daughter.) Enjoy!

Jerez is easily reachable by train. Spend the morning at the Equestrian School. We went on a non show day, when you can get a detailed tour behind the scenes, take lots of photos and watch them practicing the show. If you go on a show day, you cannot take photos in the arena and the tours don’t run.

As your children are too young for a sherry bodega tour, have lunch and sample the local sherry. Spend the afternoon wandering round the old town and the Alcazar. Visit the Camera Obscura for a different view of the town, which your children will enjoy.

We are traveling by train and or bus for the whole trip. So would prefer something easily reached by public transport. Guess it would help to give more info about our trip. We will be staying in Cordoba so no need to make it a day trip from Sevilla. As far as interests go we just thoroughly enjoy all aspects of traveling. Interacting with people, walking the towns, history of the area, will do museums and parks as well if they are good worth it.

We all read, write and speak Spanish so it doesn't necessarily have to be something geared towards English speaking tourists either.

After a morning visiting the horses in Jerez, go back to the train station (best to taxi both ways) and take the bus to Arcos for the rest of the day. RS has a self-guided walking tour.

You can also take the train to Cadiz for a day, beach (nice for a stroll and the views even if the Atlantic water's too cold for swimming), historic center that's very interesting.

You can also go to a horse show in Cordoba at the Royal Stables next to the Alcazar.

Italica, near Seville, has a large old Amphitheatre. It is on the city bus line. Medina Al-Zahara is an old moorish ruin near Cordoba.
