As a day trip from Madrid looking for suggestions to best way to travel there. I thought it would be the train but Rick Steves Snapshot kind of indicates that b/c the train station is so remote you spend about the same amount of time. How long just approximate to stay 1/2 day full day etc. I am just curious as to what others think and have experienced. Also another thought would it be worthwhile to stop on way (if possible) at El Escorial? We will use public transportation. Will be traveling in Nov and look like Segovia would be on a Friday. Thanks again
We stopped at El Escorial en route. Allow a whole day for this excursion because you'll want to sit down to a delicious suckling pig for lunch in Segovia. We had a rental car.
I spent several nights in Segovia and probably the equivalent of a full day wondering around the city. That did not include time to visit the Alcazar, which I did not do.
We took the train for a day trip. We did go to the Alacazar and ran into a lot of school groups when we were walking back to the aqueduct. A very enjoyable day.
