I had to change my scheduled Iberia flights to San Francisco, and upon calling the Iberia customer service, they re-booked me onto a LEVEL flight from Barcelona to San Francisco. I know that LEVEL charges for seat selection, however, on my other Iberia flights, I am allowed to pick seats for free starting 24 hours before check-in. Does anyone know if I am still allowed to select seats for free since I booked the flight through Iberia, or do I need to purchase seats since it is a LEVEL flight? Thank you in advance.
Level only charges for seat selection prior to check-in. Like your Iberia ticket, you'll be able to select seats for Level when you check-in online.
Everything I had seen had said that LEVEL allows seat selection at check-in for an additional cost, but good to know otherwise, thank you!
Ah. I may be mistaken. Sorry.
I just flew Level and without paying I am fairly certain you will not be able to select a seat.
I purchased the XL seats ; same seat but more legroom (economy section) ; only to find out at the airport that Level removed them from my booking and sold them to someone else because we were traveling with a child and was considered an exit row. Most airlines would not have sold them to me to begin with and now I have to go through some refund process which will be a pain and I am not taking a voucher! I was not emailed or anything and had confirmation with the seats I paid extra for.
The automated system gave my family separated seats, the person at check-in realized this should not be the case so moved us to sit all together and changed the tickets to group A boarding since we were with a child. If not for the child, I am not sure they would have done anything and just stuck us with the systems selection.
So that is all is quite bad, but on the plus side the flight was good. Arrived early despite a good amount of turbulance in route. Food served was actually decent (chicken curry dish), staff friendly, no bags weighed or measured and in seat movie/entertainment selection was better than most airlines offer. Regular seat (not XL I purchased) was fine as long as person in front did not recline.
If person reclines, the room left is comical, basically forced you to recline setting off a chain of that down the aisle.
They should either make the seats non-reclining or not permit one to recline if an adult is sitting behind you.
Thank you so much for all your info!! I will go ahead and buy seats since I doubt we will be seated together without purchasing our seats in advance. Glad to hear that everything else was okay for the most part. Thank you again for your detailed response.

Unfortunately that's never going to happen because far too many people are of the mindset that they've paid for a seat and they're fully entitled to recline irrespective of the comfort of the person behind. I've given up in the face of such selfishness so I no longer fly long haul in economy. I'd rather not fly than face a torturous 8+ hours trapped in my seat.
