I am looking at booking a scooter tour through Viator.com when we are in port in Palma de Mallorca in July. Has anyone done this? How was it? The website says that if you don't have an EU drivers license that "you will require an official Spanish interpretation of your drivers license". Is this true? I could not find anything on the state of Washington's driver license website about getting your license interpreted.
I believe what they require is an international driver permit that you can get for 15 bucks at AAA. You must bring a passport photo (or two, I can't remember). Google it for more information. I'm a big fan of Viator.com. I realize they simply consolidate group trips, but I find their website easy to navigate, their trips are interesting (I've done several), and the prices are fine. We did not do that trip when we were in Palma, but we were there a couple of Julys ago and really enjoyed it. In fact, we're making plans to go back and spend some significant time on Mallorca in a year or two. Buen viaje!
As stated, they are asking for the International Driver's Permit. A multi-language translation of your local driver's license. You must carry both the IDP and your driver's license. AAA is the only authorized issuer of the IDP. Anything on the internet is a fraud. The other concern I have would be, "What is your experience inn riding scooters?" Or are you skill cyclists with some experience riding two wheels in traffic? Europe is not the best place to learn how to ride a Vespa.
