Santillana Del Mar Hotel Recommendations?

Beautiful town. Very picturesque. We enjoyed just walking around. Cannot give you any specific tips. We only spent bout two hours there but I am glad we stopped there.

A small village that time forgot in many ways. Not much there when compared with the other towns in Spain, but well worth the trip. Be sure to see the church, amazing structure and definitely off the beaten track as is the rest of the city.

The caves of Altamira, while a reproduction, are fantastic. The recreation is made with extreme accuracy and well worth the visit. The guide I had there was very knowledgeable and well trained in her job. I would love to go back again.

Several good restaurants in the area, just ask some of the locals.

How would you compare it to Comillas?
I was looking for a place off the Feve to spend a night then the next day going on to Santander for a few hours the. On to a late flight from Bilbao.
Am I better stopping in Sanitllana del mar for a few hours and continuing on to sleep in Santander?

The buildings in Comillas referred to by another poster include some modernista gems. There is one of the first houses designed by Gaudi, for example. Some other buildings can also be visited. We liked Comillas very much.

Turns out the Gaudi house and the Almira caves are closed Monday the day we would be there.
Based on that would Santillana or Comillas be more interesting. Do love architecture more than caves but the original Cave drawings sound interesting.
