Am trying to decide whether or fly out of Santiago or la Coruna. Connections after the la Coruna flight would be better, but I'm concerned about the time and trouble spent getting there from Santiago. I will not have a car so would have to use public transportation.
Any advice?
For questions like this, especially when you suspect your trip will include a bus component, Rome2Rio.com is a good first stop. You can't trust the exact trip durations or costs provided, but if you keep drilling down you'll usually find a link to the appropriate rail or bus company website where you can find a schedule. You can also usually find bus info by Googling "bus City A to Airport B".
In this case there is very frequent, fast rail service from SdeC to A Coruna. I've linked to a current weekday schedule, so definitely change the date if your trip is well into the future or you will be traveling on a weekend or holiday. Beware the pricey ALVIA trains that don't really save much time.
From the city of A Coruna you can get a bus to the airport. Those seem to run every 30 minutes on weekdays and hourly on weekends. The best I can tell, there's a stop near the train station. If you're unable to find details online about where to pick up that bus, ask at the Santiago de Compostela tourist office, which may well know. or at the A Coruna train station. If for some reason you have substantial time to kill, A Coruna's historic district (a healthy walk from the train station, unfortunately), is very nice.
Rome2Rio thinks there's a direct bus from SdeC to the A Coruna Airport, operated by Monbus, but I haven't been able to confirm that elsewhere online. Perhaps it only runs in-season. That would be a bit simpler for you (though surely more costly), but if it's infrequent, it could be a bit risky to rely on. Again, ask at the SdeC T.O. for info upon your arrival.
Thanks for the info!
