Hello - I’ve just realized that if all goes as planned we will be in Barcelona on Saint Jordi Day. As tourists, I am wondering if there are any special things to note for this day….are there things we should try to do? I noticed it looks like some of the Gaudi architecture gets bedecked in red roses - would be fun to see. On the other hand, are there things not do and/or areas to avoid? Thanks :)
I don't have an answer for you, but it turns out that we will be there, also.
A quick google search shows Sant Jordi is the patron saint of Catalonia, and it's a festive day of books and roses.
Hopefully, someone with more knowledge will chime in!
Yes! That’s pretty much what I found as well :)
I will be there too that day! I found out this as well - Sardana Dancing (Catalan traditional folk dancing)
From 15:00 - 20:00 there will be Sardana dancing in Plaça Sant Jaume which is well worth a visit. The Sardana is a traditional Catalan folk dance.
Here’s a link for the festival from Spain.info.
Thanks, Jamie! That's helpful information.
Kathleen and Jaime, thank you both! :)
