San Sebastian to Paris via Hendaye

Hi,

We are traveling from San Sebastian to Paris and thought we'd take the train. My question is: If we go direct with a transfer in Hendaye, it makes for a long day on the train and we get into Paris later than I'd like. We thought we might stay the night in Hendaye so we could get up early and catch an earlier train to Paris- but, I can't find anything on places to stay in Hendaye in the old town- it seems it's all on the beach- the shopping and eating is in the old town. Is there really anything to see or do in Hendaye? If not maybe staying in SS another night would be better.

Also, I here tell of a local commuter train that is about $15 cheaper that runs between SS and Hendaye and runs all day- the RailEurope only has a couple scheduled- the first being around 10:00 am. Has anyone taken the local train?

Thank you-

Heidi

You could always push on as far as Bordeaux. It would be a very pleasant place to spend an evening, walking around the pedestrianized center. There are lots of accommodation choices near the train station and a TGV the next day could bring you into Paris fairly early. It's just a suggestion...
