San Sebastian to Nice (via Barcelona)

I am flying with Vueling from San Sebastian to Nice via Barcelona (connecting flight).

The flight from San Sebastian to Barcelona arrives at 8:20pm (T1).
The flight from Barcelona to Nice departs at 8:35pm (T1).

That means that I will only have 15 minutes to get off one plane and board the next.

I am concerned that this time-frame too tight. Do I have any chance of boarding the second flight?

Given that they like to close the door 10 mins before departure I would say definitely not.
And we all know how long it takes to get off an aircraft.
Did you book it as one journey on the Vueling website? Or 2 separate reservations?

I booked it as one journey on the Vueling website.

It was meant to be a 40 minutes stopover, but I got an email from Vueling yesterday saying they had changed the flight.
According to the Vueling website, I don't have to collect my luggage in Barcelona, but I'm not sure how they plan on retrieving my checked-in luggage from one plane and loading it onto the other in 15 minutes.

I really want to visit Nice, but am contemplating on removing it from my itinerary.

Something in their system is amiss then if they have not been alerted to your connection when the flight was re-timed. As far as I would think, even for a low cost carrier like Vueling, it's up to them to get you to Nice. Now that ain't gonna happen as per your current flights. Is there a later flight? Where do you head from Nice? You are going to have to inform them before you travel, and that is not an easy thing witn a web based LCC. Perhaps they have later flights from Barcelona to Genoa/Marseille/Lyon if you are looking for a same day substitute.

Thanks for your reply djp_syd.

I have emailed Vueling (again) today - so let's hope I hear back from them.

I've checked on the Vueling website and there are no later flights to Nice that day. If I miss the flight, I'll have to wait about 12h (overnight) for the next flight. The other option is to change to the 8:30am flight from San Sebastian to Barcelona, but there's an 11h wait.

Thank you for suggesting the alternatives to Nice. I will look into those while I wait to hear back from Vueling.

I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for a reply. LCCs are notorious for not getting back to customers. When are you travelling? Are you in Spain now? I would proceed with a plan B - cancel your hotel in Nice for that night and book one in Barcelona instead. When you are in a Spanish airport go to the Vueling ticket desk and request they rebook you on the next day's morning flight.

Fortunately my trip isn't until mid September - so I've had plenty of time to sort things out with Vueling.

I didn't get a reply from Vueling about my 'enquiry', but I got an email with amended flight details changed (no additional charges).

I will arrive in Barcelona (from San Sebastian) at 9:30am & my flight from Barcelona to Nice departs at 8:35pm. So I've now got a 11 hour layover in Barcelona -- it's not ideal, but at least I can go out and explore Barcelona.
