My husband and I are planning to be in Madrid this year during the week of the San Isidro festival. I understand the official calendar of events doesn’t come out until a short time before. I was wondering for those who have experienced the festival, are there certain activities that are must do? TIA

My wife and I experienced the Saint Isidro Festival (Las Fiestas de San Isidro) in 2019. (Wow, time flies!) Our memorable highlights were:
Homage to Saint Isidro of the Regional Houses in Plaza Mayor: It was a terrific folklore showcase of traditional costumes, music, dance, and human towers (castells) by groups from many Spanish regions!
Fireworks at Retiro Park: The pyrotechnics were fun; being part of community on the culminating night of the festival made it special.
