Salvador Dali House schedule

Hello,

I had been planning a day trip from Barcelona to Figueres to visit the Salvador Dali Museum then on to Cadaques to tour the Salvador Dali house. This trip is being planned for April 2026. I had been trying to work on the logistics of getting from Figueres to Cadaques when I read the Salvador Dali Houde website which seems to say the house is not open for tourists in April? Of course, I am very disappointed. I’m wanting to know if anyone can confirm this since this is contrary to what my Rick Steves Spain book shows. Thank you

We visited last year (I thought it was April, but the time stamp on my photos tells me it was 31 March) and I don't remember anything about it being closed in April. This is the official website, and I don't see anything here about it being closed then so you should be ok: https://www.salvador-dali.org/en/museums/house-salvador-dali-in-portlligat/info-practica/horaris-i-preus/

If you are wondering about logistics- there is a bus from Figueres to Cadaques but it doesn't go very frequently. We wound up taking the bus there and getting a taxi back. Once you get to Cadaques you still need to walk a fair bit to get to the house in Port Lligat so just ensure you leave time for that.

Dear Cat,

Thank you for that information. When I go to purchase tickets, it takes me to this website: tickets.salvador-dali.org. When I click on Salvador Dali House, there’s a circle with an exclamation point you can click on for information, which I did, then I clicked on schedules. In here, it appears to me to say it is closed February 11- June 15. This does seem odd to me, so I’m probably somehow reading it incorrectly. I can’t buy tickets yet anyway, but I’m just trying to plan a viable itinerary. Thanks again.

The spacing is confusing. What they mean is that for the periods Feb 11 -Jun 15 and Sep 15-Dec 31 the house is open daily except for Mondays in Feb, Mar, Nov and Dec and the three specific days listed (Jun 2, Oct 6 and Dec 25). Those exclusions are for 2025, so there may be some tweaks for next year.

Please provide any feedback on this "plan". Train from Barcelona to Girona. Rent a car. Do a little walk about, drive to Gala's Castle (Dali's wife's') about 30 min outside of Girona in the Country side, then Drive to Cadeques (1 hr). Stay the night in Cadeques and then the Dali House in the morning, and drive to Figures (1 hr) and go to the Dali Theater and Museum and Jewel exhibit in Figures. Drive back to Girona get the train back to Barcelona in the evening.

I could change around the itinerary to go to Figures after Girona and then spend the night in Cadeques and see the Dali house and then to Gala's Castle on the way back. This would be in Mid October.

Any recommendations on hotels in Cadeques would be appreciated.

Any recommendations on hotels in Cadeques would be appreciated.

We stayed 3 wonderful and relaxing nights at Hotel Playa Sol
It was right on the waterfront in the main town. It had parking for my rental car.
We had a balcony room with a wonderful view. It has a swimming pool and poolside lunch service. Walkable to all the restaurants in town. And a small beach in front of the hotel.
Highly recommended. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

To visit Dali's house, We drove 10 minutes from the hotel to Port Lligat. No issues parking at Port Lligat because we had the first tour in the morning. But we could have walked it in 15 minutes if we walked uphill from the hotel and then down to Port Lligat.
Buy tickets in advance for Dali's house. The day we were there, it sold out and many people were turned away.

For restaurants, we loved "Compartir". Very expensive. But reasonably priced for a Michelin restaurant. The fixed price tasting menu was excellent. Reservations necessary

But our favorite find was "Restaurant Casa Pilar." It was on a side street. Then upstairs and it was an apartment converted into a restaurant. We had the Seafood Paella for 4 people. The set menu for €30 each was an excellent value.
