Hi all - we only have two full days in Barcelona next month (AUG). Since the 9-10AM slots are already taken for the Nativity Tower climb on the day we need to visit, we thought we'd book our tower tour after 3PM and take in the late afternoon light as well. It seems, though, that since it's high season it still might be possible that we'd have to wait for entry because the site could be at capacity. Are we better off booking a 9:15am tour of the Passion Tower instead? Thanks in advance!
Personally...after having just returned from Barcelona and the Sagrada Familia and the Towers - I enjoyed walking around in the Basilica and seeing inside. The tower was not too awfully exciting. One can climb cathedral towers all over Europe, but this one was an elevator ride to the top and a slow, not very exciting walk down. There aren't many wide open views from inside the tower. It's definitely not as impressive as St Peter's Dome in Vatican City or Notre Dame in Paris.
If you're schedule only allows you to see the basilica then I personally don't think you will miss too much if you omit the tower(s).
