Sagrada Familia to Sant Pau to Park Guell

I am trying to plan a day in Barcelona, specifically October 23rd of this year, that starts with a 10:30 admission to Sagrada Familia. From there we plan on walking to Sant Pau, and then making our way to Park Guell. We "overchurched" in Rome several years ago and since then have never spent much time in churches - the time record goes to Santa Croce in Florence. We will have 5 full days on the ground in Barcelona, but three of those days will be taken up by day trips to the Priorat Wine Country, Tarragona, and Girona.

I'm trying to decide when to book our tickets for the Monumental Zone in Park Guell. Here are some more questions:

Would two healthy people to who love to walk enjoy walking from Saint Pau to Park Guell? I have checked RometoRio and it doesn't look that bad on paper - famous last words.

Does anyone have a lunch recommendation within the Sagrada Familia/Sant Pau/Park Guell triangle?

Thanks for your help.

Walked it a couple of years ago. Cutting through Gracia while not as direct is more interesting.

I always recommend the other way around, for several reasons: it's then downhill from one place to the other, early morning in the park is cooler than visiting at lunchtime, etc. And this would then be my advice: check WED on this post http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g187497-i44-k7350676-First_Timers_Help_With_5_Day_Itinerary-Barcelona_Catalonia.html#57433425 and this is the map I mention: http://bit.ly/DIYroute-pg-sf

... but since it seems you already booked your tickets the other way around, you might want to salvage bits and pieces of my post and adapt them to your itinerary (ie. places for lunch)

Enjoy!

We visited Sant Pau about 2 weeks ago during the scorching hot spell. We stopped at the 1902 Cafe Modernista for a drink after our visit. The Aperol Spritz I had was divine, and our server brought a bucket of ice for my wife's bottled water. Prices were reasonable. Regarding food, while we couldn't get a reservation, I'd suggest the Spoonik for dinner (not open for lunch I think). The restaurant is near the Lesseps Metro Station east of Parc Guell and it gets rave reviews. On a side note, If it's open when you're there you might even check into a possible visit to Gaudi's Casa Vicens (also near the Lesseps Station).

I hope I don't sound too much like an arrogant Texan, but I think we can handle the heat of Barcelona in October, as long as the humidity knows its place! But I did decide to visit Park Guell on Sunday and walk downhill from there - hopefully to Casa Vicens.

Thanks for the restaurant suggestions, Jon.
