Sagrada Familia to Parc Guell via metro/bus

Rick Steve's guidebook says that you can travel from Sagrada Familia to Parc Guell by the following:

Go to Sagrada Familia metro station and take Blue Line 5 to Verdaguer station (1st stop, direction Cornelia Centre). Transfer to Yellow Line 4. Take to Joanic station (1st stop, direction Trinitat Nova). Exit toward Carrer de l’Escorial and look for bus stop in front of #20. Take bus #116 to park entrance.

Any advice regarding the above? About how much time does the trip take? Is the bus stop easy to find and is it clear where to disembark? I plan to have a Hola BCN travel card.

Thanks in advance.

That's a lot of steps to take for a short trip. It's 1.4 miles. We walked it down. Any interest in a walk? If not, take a cab. We took a cab up to it from further out than that and it was 10 Euros.

Bus 92 (direction Av. Tibidabo) from Carrer de la Independencia (6 blocks east of Sagrada Familia).

It's much better to plan the other way around, first Park Güell, then Sagrada Familia... check out my post here: WED 16 at http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g187497-i44-k7350676-First_Timers_Help_With_5_Day_Itinerary-Barcelona_Catalonia.html#57433425 and the map is here: http://bit.ly/DIYroute-pg-sf

Yet if you've already booked SF, then David's advice is the best, take bus #92 a few blocks from SF to go to PG. I'll leave you right in front of the PG eastern gate. For info, a "block" in this part of town is roughly the length of a football field. Yet instead of east, I'd go north to Carrer de la Marina, you'll save some walking. Check out https://maps.tmb.cat/en/bus for a visual clue on this, you'll immediately see why. Click on the "bus" tab and tick #92 and then zoom in.

Or else a taxi of course, the fastest but not the cheapest :))

PS: Rick Steve's suggestion is by far not the best in this instance...

I followed Rick's alternate instructions to take the bus from La Sagrada to Park Guell and didn't have any problems. The walk up Avenida de Gaudi to catch the 92 bus is very pleasant. And it affords a chance to pick up a to-go picnic lunch for the park along the way. Allow an hour, though. One downside, the bus was crowded. It's essentially become a tourist bus to get to the park.

If you are pressed for time or claustrophobic, just spring for a cab. When finished, it's just a 10-minute walk downhill to the Metro station.
