Sagrada Familia interior

Looking at different tours for our time in Barcelona. Want to get it booked as everyone recommends. Some go inside, some just the exterior and then the option of going up in the tower.
Is it worth going inside? What about the towers?
Pictures I am seeing of the inside look pretty amazing, so I am leaning in that direction.

For me the interior is the most beautiful part, to be bathed in all those colours of light is just magical. You can skip the tower, the views are not so spectacular as one would think.

I agree with Carlos. I enjoyed my passion tower experience but I felt that the main attraction was the interior of the church. I would certainly do both if you can but if you have to pick just one the church interior is definitely a more wow experience than the tower.

Still, what most people recommend -it's almost "mandatory" if you want to visit it- it's to pre-book your tickets online to go in...whether you want a guided tour or not it's up to you. The vast majority do pre-book entrance tickets and then add the audioguide feature to visit on their own and at their own pace.

Regarding the towers, this has been mentioned several times, it's not about views of the skyline, it's about first-hand close-up views of the architecture of the basílica (ie this). If you love architecture, it's a must, if skyline views are what you're after, there are other much better vantage points in the city.

Use the official website: https://sagradafamilia.org/en/ to pre-book.

I'm glad we saw the tower if only to see the work they were doing on the other towers and the artwork up at the top. Definitely go inside and get the audioguide. I'd get there early if possible as the light is better and by 2 hrs after opening the tour buses have come and it is mobbed.

IMHO, the outside is ugly but the inside is incredible.

I agree wholeheartedly with Carlos, Kelly and Stephen! The first time I walked into the Cathedral and then looked up, I was literally speechless. The way the beautiful windows catch and distribute the natural light throughout the Cathedral is truly awe-some! I did enjoy the outside and the towers along with the stories they "tell" but the interior is positively not to be missed.

Absolutely go inside. I wouldn't bother with a tour; I'd rather read myself beforehand and save the money. But if you can afford the tour, go for it.

DO NOT miss going inside. Also go up in the tower. I think there is an elevation that goes up, but you have to walk down.

I chose one of the two towers to walk down and it was fabulous- though a little close at times, seeing the sculptures up close through some windows was great. ( must check bags before ascending) I have been to La Sagrada three times and took countless pictures-def. read Rick's description of the exterior and take time to really look- no reason to rush thru.

I'm not a big fan of Sagrada but if you're going there you should definitely go inside if possible. The light is amazing. (So is the light in any medieval cathedral that still has stained glass.)

Oh you have to go inside, if for nothing else just to see the light coming in from the beautiful stained glass.

Go in. Go in. The inside is beautiful, and as unlike any other building as the outside. Besides, you can't get close enough to see the beautiful details at the doors without a ticket to see inside.

We visited just one tower and enjoyed it, but the main event is the interior.

Don't skip the downstairs "making of" exhibit.

As others have said, the interior is absolutely spectacular. I am claustrophobic so I have not done the towers, as I understand they are a tight squeeze, but do not miss the inside.

Audible gasp when I entered, and I wasn’t the only one. Couldn’t imagine going to Barcelona and not going in.

Thanks ALL for the glowing recommendations of the interior! We are booked. And am SOOOO looking forward to seeing it. Considering trying to get tickets for one of the towers as well. Currently, we just have tickets for a tour with the interior included.

If you go on a sunny day the interior is gorgeous and a beautiful antithesis of gothic cathedrals.
