What is the best way to visit Sagrada Familia to avoid lines and get the most out of it - do we book direct on their website or via a specific tour operator you may suggest? Any other must see or do suggestions in Barcelona are welcome! Thank you 😊
You can book directly on the website, here: https://sagradafamilia.org/en/. You choose the date and time of your visit so there is no waiting. There is an audio guide available. It works very well.
I just bought mine on line via their website. A consideration, depending when you are going, later afternoon sun shines through the stain glass windows, so that is a magical time to go. Rick's guide or some forum remarks here recommended that.
I just looked back at my ticket. For 24 Feb, I reserved an entry for 3 p.m. with the guided tour starting at 3:45.
THERE'S ONLY ONE WAY to visit Sagrada Família and that's purchasing the tickets online; there's no on-site selling. As for where, I always recommend the original site; tour operators don't offer anything extra (and they charge a commission)
The official website offers tickets with a guide for only an extra €4. I enjoyed our tour guide; she provided a lot of interesting info. You can still wander around after tour is finished.
For free panoramic views, go up to the cafeteria at the top of the El Corte Ingles at the Plaça de Catalunya. If ya wanna shop and gotta eat, give it a try.
I am a little obsessed with Modernisme architecture and while Sagrada Familia and Gaudi are iconic, I hope you find time to see some other places. I always recommend tickets to tour the Palau de la Musica with its magnificent stained glass ceiling as a great example of the work of Domenech e Montaner. If you like his style, you would also enjoy the Sant Pau Recinte de Modernisme (formerly the Hospital de Sant Pau). And, of course, there are three Modernisme houses (including Gaudi’s Casa Batlo) on the famous “Street of Discord.” You might be able to find a copy of a guidebook (with maps) to all the Modernisme sites the city put together some years ago.
Also, download the Sagrada Familia app as you use it for the audio guide.
I could not agree more about seeing a performance at the Palau de Musica. I was lucky enough to get tickets to NORMA a few months ago and it was incredibly moving, especially in that setting.
I bought the official tix to Sagrada Familia, with the guided tour and thought it excellent but it sounds as if the audio guide is also very good.
