Sagrada Famila tickets - time is confusing

So I went thru the official site at http://www.sagradafamilia.org/en/tickets/index.html and selected tower tickets and then there are times available so it says enter the Bascilla at 10 and towers at 10:15. I thought we would enter the Bascilla at 10 and walk around for an hour and then take the tower elevater at 11:15. is it normal for the timed tickets to just have the time for the tower but not the Bascilla or I can we enter the Bascilla at 9 and then take the towers at 10:15?

I just bought my ticket for the Sagrada Familia, and selected the "Top Views" package which is for the Basilica plus a tower. The website prompted me to select a Basilica entry time, and then separately prompted me to select a tower entry time. At each of those decision points, I was able to select from many different times. While there is no reason you can't enter at 10 and do the tower at 10:15 (as I understand it, you are able to continue looking around the Basilica after you descend from the tower), you should also be able to enter at 10 and do the tower at 11:15 (unless, of course, all the other times are sold out).

I hope this helps. I haven't actually done it yet, so can't speak to the actual experience once there.

Are you certain there was no option to choose a different time for the tower? Maybe this was simply the first available, but you could opt for later?

We went this past fall. Our Bascilla time was 9:00am, Tower 9:15am. We were able to enter the tower at 9, look around a bit then went over to the tower. You descend right back into the Tower so you are able to walk around and take in the sites. On the crucifix side of the church, you can exit, take pictures, go into the museum (in basement) and the gift shop, then go back into the church.

One thing I wish we had done, is go to Mass in the basement church.

I purchased my tickets online for Sagrada Familia Basílica and the tower during my visit to Barcelona in September 2016. My entry time to the the Basílica was at 10:30 am and my tower visit was at 1:15 pm (13:15). I showed up for the tower tour about 15 minutes prior to the entry time thinking there might be a big line but the ticket taker let me enter early. By the way I returned to the basilica after the tower portion. Since your tower entry time is 15 minutes after your entry into the basilica I would do the following.

Arrive at least 10 minutes earlier than your basilica entry time because it will take some time to figure out where you need to go just to get through the ticket entry process and the basilica is a massive building! I seem to remember they put a wrist band on me and told me to hold on to the ticket for the tower portion. Upon entry to the basilica grounds you'll be given an audio headset. It is very informative and I think it includes information about the tower so be sure to take it. You may want to inform the ticket taker of your tower tour entry time and ask for directions to the tower entry once you have your audio headset.

The entry to the tower is by elevator and once you are at the top, you begin walking down an enclosed spiral ramp with some stairs. It is a self-guided tour and I spent about an hour taking photos as I came down the ramp. Once you return to the ground level you are no longer able to re-enter the tower (as far as I could tell). After the tower tour, go to the basilica and spend all the time you need. The museum under the basilica is quite interesting and is included as part of your basilica ticket. If you exit the gates of the basilica grounds, I don't know if you can regain entrance that same day to the basilica.

It is a spectacular architectural experience. Enjoy!

Thank you for asking this. I had the same confusion with the SF ticketing site -- I could reserve basically any time I wanted for the Basilica entry so selected 9:00, but then when I clicked through to the tower entry time selection, only 9:15 was an option. It seemed strange! Glad it sounds like it won't be an issue.

I was just looking at booking tickets today and had the same question. It gave me a time block to choose from (15:00-17:00 or 13:00-15:00, etc) and then asked me for another time choice (which i had to assume was for the tower because it isn't labeled at all) then depending on what time I selected for the tower visit, it then displayed my entrance time to the Basilica as 15 minutes prior to that time. So if I chose the 13:00-15:00 block then selected 14:45 as my tower time it listed my Basilica access time as 14:30 and tower time as 14:45. It seemed odd to me that you basically have to do the tower first.

I just emailed them because I want entry at 9 and tower at 10. She said they automatically back up the times to 15 min apart and the towers don't open until 10ish so 9:45 am is the earliest you can enter.... grrr...
