Ryanair or Vueling or other for Barcelona to Mallorca and question on timing.

We are booking a flight Barcelona to Mallorca and wondering if any airline is more highly recommended than others as far as on-time service? Not too concerned about pricing as all seem similar. Also, wondering about timing for return flight. We have already booked our flight to Barcelona from U.S. and are wondering if our return flight from Barcelona leaves at 6:30 pm, would we be safe if we plan to take a morning flight and arrive in Barcelona at 12 pm latest. It seems this timing gives us enough wiggle room and worst case we could switch to a different flight from Mallorca if there was a problem with ours. Thoughts would be appreciated! Thank you!

On time performance is about equal for most all airlines, with factors like weather being the biggest cause. I have not flown Vueling, but have flown Ryanair multiple times, as well as some of the other budgets in Europe. Service is fine, no frills, but you do need to know and follow the rules.

Ryanair does price a bare bones trip, and lets you add on for what you need, do not underestimate what you need. In the past, I have always bought what they call the Plus package, it adds airport check-in (important if you will not have a phone with service), a reserved seat, and a 20 kilo checked bag. However, on a recent trip from Malaga to Valencia, this option was not available, so I paid for "priority" which got me a 10 kilo carry-on, and I added a 20 kilo checked bag, the fare was still cheap.

My opinion is, that with traveling from the US, while my bag marginally fits their requirements, packed, it bulges, and I tend to be just over 10 kilo, paying for a checked bag just reduces risk of paying a fee (they do check) and I am worry-free.

I flew Vueling from London to Bilbao and it was absolutely fine. Seat was comfortable and the flight was on-time. Just make sure to prepay for your luggage (I think both carry-on and checked); as I recall luggage prices were reasonable. I'll be flying Vueling again in September from Madrid to Florence.
