We will be in Seville next month and would like to buy advance tickets for the Royal Alcazar. The site requires that we give our passport information for each ticket. I have not had to do that before for any tickets. Is this a requirement for advance tickets to the Alcazar?
Are you on the official webite? If so, that is clearly the requirement.
Others have reported being asked for a passport number when buying sightseeing tickets, though I don't remember the specific sights involved. I imagine the intent is to discourage ticket scalping.
In some countries you are required to provide your passport number to a hotel when you arrive to check in; I think in some cases the lodging might ask for the number in advance. It's nothing to worry about.
It seems like many things in Spain (Alhambra, Train Tickets, to mention a couple) require entering your passport number. So not unusual.
Your passport number is just that, a random number, it has no value or significance (like a SSN I suppose), there is nothing someone can "do" with it, so do not worry.
As always, make sure you are dealing with the official website. To be honest, I was there last September, and we purchased tickets on the app as we walked there. I believe their capacity is much more than the typical demand, so no problem getting tickets, different than the Alhambra in Granada.
There is sometimes a very long line to buy Alcazar tickets. I've never heard that regular entry tickets sell out far in advance, but who wants an hour-long line?
Yes, that is correct from my experience in May of this year.
Thanks everyone. I know about giving passport info for train tickets and hotels but this one was a first for me. Thanks again for taking the time to answer my question.
