Roses (Cadaques) to Montserrat to Barcelona

We are travelling by car. We will be staying in Roses near Cadaques for two nights (Dali). On the morning of 22 July we will be leaving for Barcelona early morning. Now for my questions:
1. Is it possible to travel to Montserrat (192 km), walk around there, and then travel to Barcelona. (64 km) where we are booked for the night. Will we have enough time in Montserrat?
2. Is it possible to go up to Montserrat by car without using the funicular or cable car? I watched youtube videos and googled but it is still not clear.
Thank you

You would have enough time to go to Montserrat and then to Barcelona.
It is so easy to take the tram up. Lots of parking and it goes quite often. We did one day in Monserrat and thought that was plenty. The line to see the Black Madonna is usually quite long so plan accordingly.

If you are leaving Cadaques in the morning, you'll have plenty of time to drive to Montserrat and visit before going to Barcelona.

You can absolutely drive all the way up to the monastery and park (parking availability may be limited in busy seasons midday, so be prepared with plan B). Signage was good to the road and upper parking. Since you'll be more limited on time, I suggest you park up top and not take the funicular.

Be aware that traffic in and around Barcelona may get very congested. If timing is critical for your Barcelona arrival, allow plenty of time. Not sure if you are driving into the city itself or dropping the car off before going to your hotel, but know that driving in Barcelona is not for the faint of heart.

Thanks both of you. I decided to use the funicular or the cable car and park below as it is a Sunday and I think the parking at the top will be difficult! Luckily we will not be driving into Barcelona center as we are staying in the outskirts. I also think that as it is a Sunday it will be difficult but not as bad as a weekday. (I hope!)
