We are planning on staying in Ronda for 2 nights before a family wedding. We'll have a rental car and are looking for day trip suggestions - including the ferry to Morocco. Any recommendations? Thank you in advance!
There’s a direct bus from Ronda to Marbella (1h 15m) and a direct bus from Ronda to Málaga (2h).
Thanks for this reply - but we'll have a car. Not looking for public transportation recommendations. Is Marbella a great place to visit?
Have you been to Granada and seen the Alhambra? If not, that would be my #1 recommendation. If you've seen the Alhambra, there are the other white villages that we really liked--Grazelema, Setenil, Zahara. However, it sounds like you only have one day? If so, you will have plenty in Ronda.
We have 2 nights in Malaga - we were planning 2 nights in Ronda -- I think you've convinced me to add 2 nights in Granada.
We stayed 2 nights in Ronda in 2023, using a rental car for transportation. Information on places we visited is in our trip report https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/trip-reports/trip-report-spain-aug-sep-seville-ronda-granada-cordoba-madrid
Thanks for linking your trip report, Geoff - most helpful!
We spent 1 hole day and night in Ronda,
2 nights maybe to long, depending on what your plans are and how well you walk and do stairs.
The roman ruins are steep to get to from say from the old town.
There's not much to see in the new town.
Granada must see, 2 night or 3 is good
Absolutely see Alhambra.
Buy gold tickets on line in advance, and pick you time to visit the palaces there.
BIG TIP: TAXI OR BUS IT TO THE TOP OF THE ALHAMBRA AND WALK THROUGH IT DOWNWARDS.
You will thank me for this info, and you will understand why. LOL
Another day, book a free walking tour (Just tip them) from Plaza de Santa Ana to see Sacromonte,
very cool place and interesting.
Plaza de Santa Ana is very nice area as well.
