Rioja with kids

We are wanting to spend a couple days in the rioja region and are trying to find kid-friendly activities for our 4 year old and 6 year old kids. Does anyone have any recommendations regarding kid/family friendly vineyards/wineries or activities that would be interesting to that age range? My husband and I would love to visit wineries. I think the kids would even enjoy a tour if it were pretty interactive. They do pretty well as long as there is somewhere to play, we are outside, or there is some sort of hands on activity. We plan to come in September but I'm not sure we can make the San Mateo festival dates. Thanks in advance!

@hlgroth20,

first I would not come with kids to San Mateos. It really isn't a kid friendly experience (unlike San Bernabe next week). While the work holidays are usually three days for SM, the schools are closed for the week, so many families go to the coast for a week.

The winery Lecea might be a place to visit with kids. Vivancos museum might also be a good stop. The museum is very interesting, and should be able to hold the kids attention for a bit. Then you can go to the bar and have a glass while the kids play on the jungle gym they have.

Apart from wine, and while lesser know but of high quality, La Rioja has dinosaurs. The kids probably aren't interested in the science, but in the La Rioja Baja they have done a good job of making it touristy.
