Hi Diane,

are you going to stay in La Rioja, or just going to pass through on your way to the Picos? It is a two hour drive from San Sebastian to Logroño.

A good place to start for info about wineries is the Rioja DOC page. They have links to all the wineries. If you are driving down for the day, I would suggest searching for wineries in Laguardia. Bodegas Palacios would make a good place to visit. You can do a tour and eat in the winery's restaurant. If you are going to stay in the area for a night, I would suggest going to the Vivanco Winery and Museum. And for places to visit you might try Haro also, as there are many wineries very close together there.

Hope that helps,

Dave

Laguardia is a charming medieval hill town not far from the La Rioja area.

Highly recommend staying in La Guardia if you can. Someone on this forum recommended it and staying there was the highlight of our trip. We started in San Sebastian and stopped in Pamplona on the way down (didn't stay there).
