Rioja Wine Region

As part of a cruise to the Iberian Peninsula we will be overnighting in Bilbao. We are looking for a private tour of the Rioja wine region that is customizable and takes us to 3 or 4 wineries over the course of a full day. There are several companies on the internet, most with good reviews but I always trust the folks on this forum and haven't been disappointed with recommendations in past travels. Has anyone ever been to the region and can recommend a tour guide/company? We prefer small family owned vineyards

Any other suggestions are most welcome including getting around Bilbao and musts to see. Thanks.

Rebecca at Rioja like a Native—excellent tour. She tailors it to your taste. We went to family owned wineries and lunch in LaGuardia. Wonderful day and learned a lot. You can talk about transportation from Bilboa with her. We had rented a car so met her in a small town to begin our tour. Be sure to ask about the barrel taste test.

Bilbao's historic district, the Casco Viejo, is atmospheric and much less touristy than most. There are several art museums as well, not just the Guggenheim. It's a very attractive city.
