So after careful contemplation of everyone's suggestions, and doing more research into particular sites that will interest me personally, I think I have come up with a more suitable itinerary, and am hoping for feedback or suggestions. I should also mention that I spoke to my best friend of 15+ plus years (who has lived in Barcelona) and she said, knowing me, I would find more enjoyment in spending less time in Barcelona, but more fun in the surrounding areas.
Day 1: Fly into Barcelona
Day 2-4 Barcelona
Day 4: In the afternoon, take high speed train to Girona
Day 5: Girona
Day 6: Train to Tarragona
Day 8: Fly to Seville
Day 8-14 Seville, with possible day trip to Ronda
It may seem strange that I prefer the smaller, less site-filled cities of Tarragona and Girona over Barcelona, but I can easily wait to purchase my rail ticket to one of those cities until I'm there, giving us the option to stay in Barcelona longer if we'd like.
Excluding the flights from/to home, I think this may be the best way to see a lot, not feel rushed, and not spend too much time on a train either.
Please let me know if I'm completely off-base with this line of thinking...lol
Obviously, missing out on Granada and Nerja are major concerns, but I just don't know a practical, enjoyable way to squeeze them in.
