We will be flying to Barcelona and heading to the Costa Bravo/Girona area.
Would it be just as easy to take a bus to the coast and rent at the coast rather than
the Barcelona airport? Would the expense be about the same?

We were in Cadaques on the Costa Brava last week and took the bus to get there from Figueres and then to Barcelona. Although there is bus service it would easier to rent a car in Barcelona or a bigger town like Girona or Figueres versus along the coast. The bus service is limited.

Also check day of the week, as airport locations may be the only options open on Saturday afternoon or Sunday.
