Renting a Car in Madrid

I guess it depends on the rental company, so contact it. I’ve never seen a Discover Card accepted here sign on any store, hotel, restaurant, or anywhere for that matter. More places accept American Express than in the past, but it’s not nearly as accepted and Visa or Mastercard.

And to avoid surprise... remember that Hertz, for example, in Spain may have different accepted cards than Hertz in the US. Oftentimes, these are not the same company and a local franchisee may do things differently
