I am looking to book a vehicle for 4 days in November. The plans are to pick up car in Seville and travel to Malaga. Will return car at Malaga Airport when we depart for home. Here is the question. I have been researching. My credit card is Chase and they offer protection. So I am under the impression I am not to take any CDW via the auto rental. I am thinking right now that I may go through Avis I feel there rates seem to be good. So when comparing to other companies what would the real differences be other than the one way drop off fee and the actual daily rate seeing CDW is not be taken. There will be 5 of us and am looking at mini van or wagon. I was able to find a discount code for avis that worked and it looks like I can rent a VW Touran for approx $400 USD for the 4 days. Does that seem reasonable. Are there specific questions I should be asking. Or things I should look for. I have rented often in the states, but never internationally. Yes we did get our international permits. We will have 2 drivers. Thanks for the help
Thank you. I have read the above listed article. I was just hoping that possibly someone had some current experience that they could share. Just want to make sure all is in place and that are covered. Again Thanks
I always rent from Avis with my most recent experience in Spain this past May. Yes, decline Avis CDW if you are covered by you CC. In addition to the CC coverage we buy separate CDW through Allianz for $9 a day just to ensure we have sufficient coverage. Liability insurance is compulsory in Spain and included in the price of the rental. With Avis, if you pay in advance when making the rental online, you can save 30-40 dollars. Since I never get that large a vehicle and always return it to the place I picked it up, I can't say whether the price is good or not, but prices fluctuate and depend on where you pick it up, drop it off, time of year, length of rental, and how far in advance you make the reservation. Also, there will probably be a €10 per day charge for the second driver. One last note, stay as close to the speed limit as possible as there is no 10km over the limit lienency.
