We're driving a rental car from Costa del Sol and returning it in Granada prior to checking in to our hotel near the Plaza Nueva. As seniors without much experience with Spanish city driving, would we be better off returning the car to the airport or the train station? We'd like to know the less stressful option.
Airport would probably be the least stressful. There are plenty of one way streets in the area of Plaza Nueva where you could get frustrated. Like most European cities, street signs are not easy to see, if they even exist, while driving at the same time.
Definitely the airport. Do not come even close to the city. GPS doesn't work properly in these ancient cities. And driving is a heart attack waiting to happen.
Airport. Downtown is crazy for driving with its restricted zones. There are main arteries to Plaza Nueva, but it isn't worth it. Airport has a nice low price shuttle bus option to get you right downtown.
Thanks to All for your very helpful responses! We'll definitely return the rental car to the airport.
Years ago a rental car pick-up at Granada was off site 1-2 km. The gentleman picked us up at the airport. Maybe it has changed.
We returned ours to the airport, as it was the only option on a Sunday, but it was also agonizingly slow as you're in the same line as people picking up. Just know that the taxis are back at the airport terminal -- fortunately, their shuttle driver took us back.
Thanks for the additional info! Much appreciated!
