Rental car in Figueres - return Barcelona - Help

You might have to rent in Girona. Dropping off is usually not a big deal before opening - you just leave the keys in a drop box. When You google car rental Figueres, do you get nothing? Im renting in Girona so I know there are several there ...

Sure, and doing so is routine.

There is one potential downside to dropping off at a located that's unattended when you leave the car: you can't do the walkaround inspection with the agency in person (so there's some risk they may "discover" scratches and other damage, real or imagined, that they charge you for). You can protect yourself from this (to some extent) by dealing with a reputable agency (hard to know in advance, a familiar American company name is no real protection), and (especially) take good photos/video of the car when you leave it (and let them know you did) so it's harder for them to make up "damage" that they then hold you responsible for. Of course, that's a good practice to do even when there is someone there to accept your rental car return (as they sometimes "discover" damage later).

There are car rentals in Figueres but they can't be returned to Barcelona, at least not any that I have found.

I just looked up a rental in Figueres dropping at the BCN airport and it worked fine... I looked it up through Europcar ....

Does anyone know what the road are like from Cadaques to Tossa De Mar to Barcelona. I am not used to driving mountains or hills.
