Renfe Question? Error message before payment options

So Renfe released their schedules online for our December-January trip; however, when I try to book before I even get the option to enter the payment info (which is generally the issue with renfe); I get an error message that the application is not available or other errors. Anyone else having this issue?

Someone has to be buying the tickets as the prices have changed with the promo price already not an option.

Specifically, we are looking at Madrid-Sevilla 30-12-19 and Cordoba-Madrid 9-1-2020.

I can't help you with the error message, but what are you seeing when you search. I just tried Madrid to Sevilla on 30/12 and it only shows two Alvia services. I don't think these ever have a promo fare. The Ave services aren't showing yet (for me, anyway). Renfe release in blocks sometimes, with different types of train showing up separately even for the same route and date. You may need a wait a bit longer for the full timetable to appear. It's possible the error message is because they're still changing the list, perhaps? Keep checking.

Thanks, I figured out (well, making an assumption) that its an issue with the Alvia trains, as they are up on-site but not bookable. If I choose the AVE Cordoba-Madrid, it works, but the cheaper Alvia won't let it be booked. So will have to learn patience.

Renfe bookings can very hit and miss, I found that out from our trip to Spain last May. Usually them schedules seem to come on about 30 days before you wish to travel. As you said patience.

Hello from Wisconsin,
For Pete's Sake. Read some other posts. Sorry. But RENFE is a problem and every post says so. Go to the website loco2.com. And all your Spanish booking troubles will go away. If you don't trust me check out,'the man in seat 61'.
