Decided to head to Segovia tomorrow. If I order my tickets online now and get the SMS message, can I screenshot the tickets and show that at check-in tomorrow? It mentions having to be on wifi.....

I had my hotel print my tickets so I can't help, there. However, I will tell you when I returned from Segovia, the wifi was out at the train station and it was chaos. People couldn't buy tickets at the counter, and people that relied on train station wifi to show the ticket on their device had a problem. Now if you had downloaded to your device you'd have something. Also, RENFRE handled things pretty well. They just told everyone to get on the train and they worked it out from there. Not sure if it was a fairly common occurrence or just a random event.

Did you buy your tickets directly from Renfe or a third party site?

You do not need WiFI if you download your ticket it as a file saved on your device as a pdf or gif with the QR or Bar code. You will not have any problem. The RENFE site may even have an ap that you can download that would store the ticket.

I ended up just buying them at the station that day. 78 Euro round trip. Same as I would have paid online for the four of us.

FYI-
For short trips like to Segovia or Toledo, it's usually fine to buy them a day or so ahead of time. The cost savings is minimal. The discounts for buying early are usually on the long-distance tickets, ie Madrid to Seville or Barcelona.
