Renfe Error Message

I have successfully booked AVE trains on Renfe using Paypal with no issue earlier this summer. Today, when I try to book my tickets from Toledo-->Madrid, I am getting the following error message: "You cannot you make your reservation for the train chosen, sorry for the inconvenience (RV13)." Does anyone know what that means? I am trying to use Paypal, I am not trying to book directly with a credit card.

If I cannot buy the ticket in advance, can I buy the ticket when I arrive in Spain ~24 hours before I need it? I do want a specific time because we are connecting in Madrid to Granada (I have already purchased those tickets).

Mark Smith, the former railway employee and website originator of www.TheManInSeat61.com says when the Renfe website is screwy, try booking Renfe tix at www.TheTrainline.com. There are frequent times when Renfe’s website just does not work, and that has reportedly been the case recently.
If you try Trainline and that doesn’t work, it could be Renfe has failed to load the Madrid to Toledo tickets on to its schedules ( although, I do now see Tickets on Trainline) If you’re looking for dates past December 10 when the train companies reset their schedules, you will need to wait as the train operators do not usually release tickets for sale until after the schedules are reset with minor timetable revisions.

Out of curiosity, which date we’re looking at? I’ve tried a few dates and they all seem to work just fine.

Thanks all. It worked today so it was clearly just some Renfe issue yesterday. Glad to have all my trains booked!
