renfe ave train Madrid to Sevilla in Dec

Hi,
I'm trying to book AVE train ticket on Renfe for Madrid to Sevilla on Sunday 12/29. I only see two Alvia options right now, while if I check for Sunday 12/15, there are a lot of AVE options. Will Renfe release more AVE options or the two Alvia would be the only ones available? It's only a month and a half away, so I got bit worried that we wouldn't be able to get the ticket that we want.

Thanks,
Lily

The schedule probably just isn’t out yet. While the site says the schedule is released 60 days out, that’s not alway the case. Just keep checking.

Lily, I am trying to do the same thing on the same day and have had the same result. I just looked tonight and the tickets are now more expensive. I really hope it's just that the full schedule is not yet out.

Jess, I noticed the price jump too. I really hope they will release more AVE options. The current options do not work well for my plan and that's why I have not bought tickets.

Lily,
Renfe usually updates train timetables twice a year (second Saturday in June, and second Saturday in December)

So don’t despair, there will be many trains traveling from Madrid to Sevilla after December 14.

Keep checking as the train schedules may be released sporadically after the timetables change on December 14th.

Enjoy your trip!

I am in the same boat for Madrid to Sevilla on 12/30, and even when I try to buy the tickets available, I get an error message that the application is not available. And the Cordoba to Madrid on 1/9/20 has the entire day sold out. Very frustrating, as I don't know what's true and what false.

Renfe.com doesn't show all the January 9 trains sold out. There are four departures between 8:07 AM and 10:42 AM for which tickets are still available, though seemingly at full price. The 8:01 PM departure has tickets (well, at least one ticket) available at the promo price of under 34 euros. It's surprising to see so many trains sold out that far in advance. I can only guess that there is something special happening in Madrid that day--a huge concert or a major sports event, perhaps.

Thanks Lily,

So weird, when I looked again, there was a 9 something train now available, but the rest was still full. So grabbed the tickets even though they were really high prices.

And called Renfe today, and was told that the Madrid to Sevilla will be available soon.

I was in a similar situation last year at this time, trying to book from Seville to Madrid for January 1. From the time I started looking, there were only a couple of options, slow trains with a connection in Córdoba. Following advice on this forum I waited, checking pretty much every day. On November 19 there were suddenly multiple non-stop, high speed options available. That being said, the finicky Renfe site still did not allow me to complete my booking. I had no trouble buying on that same day through the Loco2 website (which, by the way, has recently rebranded as RailEurope).

Hi everyone, same here...
I am trying to get ave tickets from Sevilla to Madrid Atocha on 12/20, have been checking everyday, but nothing comes up. I started to get worried because I see that there are ave trains available from Sevilla to Córdoba and Córdoba to Madrid. I started to doubt if there won’t be direct train available starting from 12/16.... should I keep on waiting till the second week of December? Or just book 2 segments of tickets: Sevilla to Córdoba and then Córdoba to Madrid before they are fully booked ?
