Renfe train ticket and stations info

Hi I have booked my train tickets online. However, I realize that I have forgotten to fill my passport number when making the booking. Would that be a problem?
Secondly, is it enough to carry the print out of the tickets or do I need to print the tickets at the station.
Please let me know how can I commute from Calderon's de la barca, Madrid to Atocha . Which metro line should I get?

Most tickets don't print your passport number on them. However, the conductor may want to see that the name on the ticket matches the passport. You should be fine. Additionally, assuming you received an e-ticket, it would be perfectly fine to print it and take it with you. The e-ticket will have a special bar code on it that the conductor will scan. However, if it just a confirmation that you have, you may need to go to the train station to get your ticket. What type of ticket do you have?

As for getting from Calderon's de la Barca to Atocha, if it is where I think it is near the Plaza Eliptica, then you could take line 6 towards Pacifico, then transfer to line 1 towards Pinar de Chamartin. You can do a google image search of the Madrid Metro to get an idea where all the subway stops will be.

I hope this helps some.

Hi Thanks

Yes, I do have an e-ticket with bar code below. I hope I don't have to go to station early to retrieve the actual ticket. I think just the print out should do fine.

Also, is it fine to take a photocopy of my passport or do I have to carry the originals.

Regards
Nitin

Yes, I just traveled for 3 weeks by train in Spain. You only need the printed copy of the PDF ticket that was emailed to you by Renfe with the bar code on it. No need to have any other copy of the ticket printed at the station. I hope that helps.

Because of past terrorist attacks, RENFE is pretty high on security. You'll have to pass through a metal detector and have bags scanned, though not as intense as at airports. They may check identification at that time (I don't specifically recall), so I would have your passport with you and available. I would not rely on just a copy. A printed e-ticket ( with the bar code and not just a confirmation) is all you need.
