Does anyone know if I can skip the line, if I buy a tickets directly off the Reina Sofia Museum's website? It doesn't mention it in their website. It also does not indicate it in the Rick Steve's Spain book.
What line? I've never seen a line there.
Ok good to know! Thank you!
No line when we went on the Monday morning after Easter. :)
Great! Thank you!
I've been there when there's been a line to purchase tickets, so I was glad that I had pre-purchased them.
There is also a security check, so you still have to stand in line to put your bag through a scanner,
unless you don't carry a bag.
I appreciate that. I will go ahead and buy my tickets in advance off the Reina Sofia Museum website. Their website does not indicate that if I buy the ticket in advance that I can skip the line but I assume it does.
We were in Madrid in September 2015 and purchased a Paseo del Arte which gave us admission to the Reina Sofia, the Prado and the Thyssen. And you can also avoid any lineups but as others have mentioned, there were no lineups when we went to the Reina. The Art Pass was very useful at the Prado where there was a huge lineup. Here is the link to purchase the Paseo del Arte.
When we had the Paseo we had to line up to exchange it for tickets at both the Prado and the Reina Sofia -- only the Thyssen took the little coupon/ticket on the pass directly. I was mightily annoyed because I had bought it precisely to skip lines -- I ws eligible for cheap tickets if I was going to line up.
As I recall, the last time I was at the Reina Sofia museum I got free entrance by showing my passport - age 65 or older. I don't know if this would be a possibility for this person, but it is something to consider for many.
Me too Jack, just yesterday!
Wow. Thanks for everyone's help! I went ahead and bought the tickets online thru the Reina Sofia Museum's website.
We went during the lunch hour, around 14:00 and there was no one in line :)
