Before I start, I know, I know this is not long enough and will not do it justice BUT this is all we have and we will not be able to revisit. Anything is better than never seeing it. We want a group trip as cost is a consideration. I have had a good look at Get your Guide, Viator, Trip Advisor and tried to find local companies. Not thrilled with any so far. Has anyone any genuine recommendations - we are going early November and as pensioners want a well planned, sensible trip - Nasrid Palaces a must. We do not want shopping but the best experience going. I have looked at doing this ourselves and it just doesn't work. We do not want to hire a car; we want the reassurance of a guide. We do not mind the travelling; indeed that is part of the joy. We do not want to spend a night in Granada. Hope someone can help. Many thanks in advance.
It’s at least a 3 hour drive each way
I’d be surprised if there are many tours at all from Seville to Granada

If he doesn't have something, I would ask him for suggestions.
Try toursbylocals.com. If you don’t find something, I would look for someone who has an offer for something close or has a car and email them your request.
We did a one day tour from Amsterdam to Bruges through them. It was a long drive but as you said, it was better than not going at all.
Hello,
I work as a tour guide in Granada and the Alhambra and operate with Tours by Locals. I usually deliver tours coming from Malaga, but also with some agencies arranging transfers from Sevilla and Cordoba to visit the Alhambra.
If you are interested, please send me a private message and I will be more than happy to give you more information.
Best,
Juan Antonio Ortiz Reberdito “Nono”.

Number of guests? What is your budget, in Euros, per person? Are you thinking 8AM to 8PM, or an even later return? Are you willing to pay in advance for lunch, for efficiency and speed? Or does each person want to arrange their own, rock-bottom cost meal?

Sorry not quite sure how I reply but hope this works:
Just 2 of us
Not sure but as I said we do have to keep costs as low as possible
We can leave earlier if required depending on how we are getting to Granada. We are happy to be back in Seville for 8.00 pm
We are happy to have lunch arranged for us but again we would just want a basic meal.
Hope this helps
paddy, I didn't ask those questions just to be annoying; I was trying to shake loose additional information that might help people respond, including possible guides. It's 250 km EACH WAY, in a country where gasoline costs at least 1.50 Euro/liter. And of course there's a driver's time, and auto depreciation. How much would a 500 km Uber trip be near your home?
You did say that you wanted a group tour, but you didn't say why you rejected Viator. I'd rather sit 6 hours in a 59-passenger bus than in a 10-passenger glass van. I asked the size of the group to see if you hoped to reduce the cost per person by being a group of 6 or 8 friends, filling up the van. That also affects the huge chance that a 10-passenger van trip will not COMMIT to the trip until a few days before your reservation, because they have to make up all the overhead with an almost full van! That uncertainty seems like a deal-breaker for you. You can't have both certainty and the price you want - which is still a secret.
Having used 59-passenger busses in both Lisbon and Madrid, I feel perfectly entitled to suggest that your hopes are unrealistic. Whether you want to drill down and book directly with a tour company after learning their name on Viator's site, or just book with Viator, that is your best hope for a very long daytrip from Seville, all the way across the entire country of Spain. BTW, we also went at night, and it was NOT better than the daytime visit. You are not missing anything there. (Opinion.) This newsboard deprecates Viator, but I have found small tour companies that do not list all their products on their OWN website, so the only way to book them is with big, "evil", Viator.
We happened to book an outdoor dinner at a "Carmen", a restaurant overlooking the Alhambra. So we saw the sunset on the palaces, and had a lovely romantic dinner. Yes, it was expensive, and we were sleeping in Granada.
Edit: I have nothing bad to say about Naturanda, mentioned in a later post. Their pricing sounds very attractive, and including the St. Nicholas Mirador is a nice touch. But as I suggested, they require (only!) four guests to have a tour depart. However, since they allow cancellation up to 48 hours for Granada, that could still leave you with a tour that is cancelled out from under you at the last minute - theoretically. No personal experience with this or any other Seville tour company. My point was that Viator doesn't care if the bus has 59 or 50 passengers.
At a quick glance I see several options on Viator. It looked like you needed to secure your own Alhambra tickets for a couple of them - which means you would have to coordinate times with the tour company. At least one offered the option to get your ticket for you. For this long day trip, all seemed reasonably priced.
However, a private guide might be about the same cost when you factor in two people. So not at all a bad question. I don’t recall ever seeing a request for this here on this forum. But with several companies offering the service, it would seem that there’s a demand.
I don't know if you've already eliminated Naturanda, but we used them for a day trip from Seville to Cadiz in 2017, and really liked them. The other couple on our tour had taken their tour to the Alhambra earlier in their trip. They had a good time.
