We're spending 2 nights in Barcelona--any recommendations for the best neighborhoods (and hotels) to stay in? Is Barri Gotic the best choice?
I have stayed several times at the Continental Hotel. It is right on the Rambla with balcony views. Buffet breakfast was included and drinks available all day. The only time it was a problem was the year Barcelona defeated Madrid Real and the traffic went up and down the Rambla continuously. Exciting. For a wonderful book of Barcelona, read "The shadow of the wind by Zafon. Also Cathedral of the sea. Wonderful city. Alan
This recent thread has discussion on where to stay that might be useful.
We stayed in Eixample which is a lovely neighborhood with beautiful architecture and very convenient. Easy to walk to Casa Battlo and Casa Mila (La Pedrera). We stayed at Hotel Gran Via which we liked but that was in 2010. Check reviews for current info.
Gracia is another nice neighborhood where families live and children attend school. Doesn't have a tourist vibe.
We enjoyed staying at Hotel Jazz in Eixample.
Roof top pool & terrace. Centrally located. Wonderful way to relax after a day of touring wonderful Barcelona. We would stay there again. https://www.hoteljazz.com/en/
Is Barri Gotic the best choice?
It's the old town full of hidden gems.
Thank you all for the suggestions! This is a lot to consider; I appreciate it.
